Creating bath bombs at home from scratch can be expensive and time-consuming, especially if you're unfamiliar with the process and tools involved. Luckily, many bath bomb kits available on the market today have all of the ingredients you need, as well as instructions to make your creation perfect every time. Here are five steps to creating your perfect bath bomb.
1) Get Some Funnels
Making bath bombs is a therapeutic and relaxing process that can take 15 minutes to several hours. Follow these five steps and get the most out of your DIY experience.
-Measure and mix dry ingredients, adding liquid slowly so you don't create bubbles. Mix until all of the dry ingredients are evenly distributed throughout your mixture - Fill an ice cube tray with your mixture - Bake at 200 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes or until dry - Let cool, remove from mold, and add bath bomb kit ingredients (i.e., fizzing solution, activated charcoal) in a container large enough to fit a few bath bombs. -Pour water over activated charcoal in a container, then drop the desired amount of mixed liquid onto it while stirring continuously with a wooden stick
2) Find a Mold
There are plenty of bath bomb molds out there that are easy to use and perfect for creating homemade bath bombs. Whether you buy a bath bomb kit with all the necessary ingredients or purchase a mold separately and add your choice of ingredients, these popular methods both produce quality products for those who want to try their hand at making bath bomb recipes.
3) Pick your Water Soluble Baking Soda
For homemade bath bombs, we recommend using water-soluble baking soda. This product doesn't need to be dissolved in a cup of warm water like other recipes call for but can be added directly into the melted coconut oil and cocoa butter base. It's also important that your baking soda is food grade, as some baking products are too alkaline and can leave behind a slimy residue in your bathwater.
4) Filling the molds
Fill your molds with homemade bath bombs by sprinkling or pouring some of your mixtures on the inside. You can add a few drops of essential oils and color it if you want to make them prettier, but this is optional. Add baking soda and a bit more mixture until the mold is full. Tap the mold gently against a hard surface to even out any lumps, and then place it in the freezer for an hour or two.
5) Drying and Enjoying
Let them cool until hard and store them in a cool, dry place. You can even make mini bath bombs by using a muffin tin! They will look so cute and smell amazing! You can also mix your favorite oils with different essential oils to create your unique scent. Finally, be creative and try out new designs you may not have seen before.
